Full of life... and color!

I got to meet up with this family again for a colorfun session (like that word? just made that one up!) at the Arboretum. These 2 kiddos are only about 6 months behind each of mine, and they reminded me so much of them. It's somewhat of a difficult age to photograph together because the older one is old enough to know what to do when the camera is pointed at them, but they can become frozen waiting on their younger siblings to pay attention!

I think it's also interesting when siblings are on completely opposite ends of the eye color spectrum...

AND to keep talking about color, this mom did a great job of coordinating everyone's outfits for the shoot!

So I thought I'd show off these since I'm not quite ready to post my next sneak peek.

I got permission from Kinley's mom to show her birth announcements here on the blog. I just love how soft and creamy these turned out. They are also a great example of keeping design elements subtle and simple in order to keep the focus on the subject.

We did a linen textured paper, which I think was the perfect choice for this design. I can do custom card design for almost any occasion using images from a client's session. Most of the time I do flat 5x7 cards on a few different papers (same size as pictured here). There are further details on my website under "Investment" but you can always contact me with questions. And I always offer unlimited proofing on card designs, so we'll keep tweaking it until we get your perfect design!

From my home to yours...

A while back I had written that I would show some photos from around my own home displaying photography as art. This morning I popped the camera out for some images of my favorite collage in the house. These were taken last fall and I used a few of the images for our family Christmas cards. I turned them into this photo collage back in January and finally got them on the wall in April after my parents delivered my grandmother's beloved piano to me. I had been reserving this space for all of these things, and it's fun to finally have everything up. It seems like almost everyone comments on this collage when they see it for the first time.

Lots of people are scared to purchase prints or wall art sized bigger than an 8x10. But... this is proof that things look MUCH smaller up on your walls and there is no reason to be scared of a 16x20 wrap! :) These are all a variety of sizes, but the smallest is still bigger than an 8x10....

I had these all printed on metallic paper, and they really pick up some nice light throughout the day as it filters through our back patio windows.






My decorating rule for myself when we moved into this house in March was "NO MORE BEIGE!" Hence, the green walls, which I LOVE! :) We only left one room its original color - and guess what it is - BEIGE of course!
