Full of Life

This brother and sister duo were so full of personality and life at the park this week. It was once again windy - seems like it must follow me to every shoot lately - but for this pair, I think it really worked in our favor. We weren't going for the traditional, posed portraits, and that's definitely not what we got! :) However, I think when their mom and dad look back at all of the photos in the collection, they will definitely be reminded of the many expressions their kiddos wore at these ages.

Big Sis...

Little Man. I have always said if I had a little boy with straight hair, I would grow it out to a little chili bowl like he has. Well, my older boy has a head full of waves and curls, and the baby - well, he's still working on his hair. BUT - if it was straight, I'd want it to look like this!

Favorite of the two:

I'm guessing she might be just a little dramatic from time to time.... ? :)

They had a great time running and playing in the grass.

Just a final, fun one. Enjoying his reward for all of his "posing"!

Thanks again! Looking forward to sharing all of them with you soon. There were plenty of other expressions that I think you will have a little chuckle at when you see them. - Julie

Mia, 4 years

What a pretty little girl she is! Mia turned 4 last week. She enjoyed the equivalent of a grown-up 'spa' day by getting her nails painted and hair done the day of our shoot. Why didn't they have that when I was 4? Plus her grandma came over from Fort Worth to visit and help celebrate.

Mia gave me lots of expressions to capture. I think this little grin might be one of my favorites:

Pink Converse! Love it!

Mia and her pretty mommy.

Just a slight smile was perfect for this close up.

Three generations. You can see where Mia gets her looks!

It was obvious that Mia and her grandma had a special relationship. This was just one of a few cute moments I captured. Mia is lucky to have a grandma so full of life and laughs, too!

I had a great time with you all. I hope you enjoy these sneak peeks. I will be in touch regarding the rest! Thank you!

Family Time

Just a few from the family portion of Anna's photo shoot...

Love this one of the girls.

As you can tell, it was pretty windy that day. Despite our best efforts, we could not find a suitable place to hide from it! I may do a bit more hair photoshoppin' on this one, but it was so cute of everyone that I wanted to post it anyway.

Miss Anna, 3 years

This was my second 3 year old girl to shoot last week. I've known her and her family for most of her life. She is full of sweetness, smiles, and just a wee bit of drama here and there! We had a fun and easy time in downtown Rockwall for her three year pictures.

Oh, and she was also wearing this adorable outfit from the Matilda Jane line (just as the last girl, Audrey wore in her 3 year photos). If you have a girl, you have to check out their stuff here. Actually, next week I am so excited to be photographing one of the Dallas trunk show rep's kiddos.

On to Miss Anna...

Now personally, I think Matilda Jane needs to use this next one on their website!

No, she is not wearing lipstick! All natural... :)

Another close-up...

And even though you can't see her complete face here, to me this totally matches her personality:

There are lots more where this came from! Thanks for letting me photograph your little doll. I also will be posting some of Anna with her family, and then Anna's baby sister sometime soon. As always, check back soon! - Julie

Wrapping it up...

How fun is this? I've had these ideas floating around in my head for a while now and was so excited to try them out on a girl with long hair in a tutu! This first collage isn't going to appear as clear as I'd like due to my resizing. But, the final image will be nice and crispy! This will actually print on a 5x15 panoramic print that can easily be framed.

Ready to take flight! So much personality!

Baby Sis was a happy camper, too...

I love this shot. True mommyhood! (Not sure why this one doesn't want to post super-clear.)

A candid family one. Big Sis is all smiles, but Baby Sis had just about had it here...

Think this is so sweet:

And just a couple more from the outdoor part of our shoot. Little vintage action here. She wasn't too keen on putting her feet in the grass. I think she is checking for bugs or worms. The next shot was actually when she put her feet down and she made this totally disgusted face. Funny...

And, finally, sweet little "mommy and me" moment:

It was fun, y'all! Jameson is still talking about watching Max and Ruby with Audrey! Haha. The rest are coming soon!

Just the beginning...

... of some serious posting! This begins the first of 3 shoots I had last week. Lil Miss here turned 3 not long ago. We have been waiting for her to get this outfit in to do the pics. Here are just a few...

Notice her feet are not touching the grass. Girly girl! Nonetheless, I like her little somber expression here.

I love these wild spring/summer colors with her blue eyes.

Check back soon because we did some ADORABLE studio stuff with her where she really got to strut her stuff. Plus, we got the whole family together for some portraits. After that, two more families of 4 coming up!

Look who came to play!

Just a teeny weensy sneak here of our little friend Hudson. Might remember him from some posts quite a while ago when he was just 1 and 2 months old. He was one of the only things I was photographing towards the end of my pregnancy last year (other than my own child)!

He is 9 months, going on about 16 years these days. Keeping Mom and Dad on their toes! Cutie patootie!

Back with more...

I was going through this family's album again, and realized I wanted to go back and re-edit a few. With that done, I thought I'd share a few more of this 2 year old here since when I posted her originally, it was in a bit of a rush and without some of my regular editing tools. So, here are a few more to enjoy.

I loved her little checkered dress & red shoes. So classically cute!

She must be thinking, "This flower is just scrumptious!"

And just a few cuddly candids with Mommy:

Your album is uploading as I type and I will send you the link shortly! Thanks again!

Full of Charm

Now, here is a proper post to reveal Miss Cally and her family! Last week I had the opportunity to photograph 19 day old Cally in her home and nursery. Everything about the shoot was charming... lil Cally, her brother, parents, nursery, and home. In fact, the photo above shows yet another bit of "charm": the "baby gift" Cally's dad gave her mom with Cally's initials on the backside of this beautiful diamond pendant.

She had the most adorable bedding. Here, she is laying on the matching blanket. She wasn't much of a curler and decided to be a light sleeper that day, so a lot of the typical newborn posing and folding wasn't gonna happen. Not to say that we didn't try, but Cally had her own ideas about things. A sign of things to come?

A sweet kiss from big brother...

She slept like this in the basket for literally about 3 shots. We're lucky to have caught this!

Now this pose she did seem to enjoy, but what baby doesn't love the swaddle?

During one of Cally's feeding/changing breaks, I got to spend some time with big brother and captured a few of just him. He was really into climbing on the step ladder I was using for some of the shots. All boy!

He had the coolest little boy room, and here he is playing in it:

Back to little sister now... Ten perfect little toes!

A more candid family shot. Even though there seems to be a lot going on here, Dad appears calm, happy, and right where he wants to be.

If you've made it down this far on the post, you get to see this final sneak of Cally and her daddy.

Thank you so much for allowing me to photograph you in your home last week! I sincerely enjoyed it, and look forward to sharing the rest with you shortly!

Whew! That was a big sneak peek, but I think it was worth it! Why so many sneak peeks this time when I usually just post between 4 and 6 per session? Well, newborn shoots are quite different than my standard, on-location session for several reasons. As you might imagine, the subject matter usually requires breaks for feeding, changing, rocking, etc., so the session is more lengthy. I also bring studio lighting and all kinds of props "just in case" that I play around with and try out depending on what look I'm going for. Plus there is the task of deciding which rooms or aspects of the baby's home to use for the photography. In Cally's case, her home was just full of possibilities and I could have shot there all day long!
