For Fun

Since there were several cute "mommy and me" shots from this last session, I thought it might be fun to throw them together in a collage that the client can order in a 10x10 layout. Take it on over to Hobby Lobby or similar and add a mat, frame, and voila - ready for the wall!

Just a cute keepsake documenting this sweet time!

And "K's" - I will upload this to your online album if you'd like to order it!

Dancing Queen

I met up with this little lady and her parents last weekend in Frisco. It's always fun to use a new location - new ideas always come with it! Anyway, this little one is 6 months old, laid back, and quite the dancer already! She would start rocking back and forth anytime she heard music or singing. Her favorites that day were "If you're happy and you know it..." sung by her daddy, and the Tejano music blaring from the construction site across the road! That just shows how well rounded she is already!

Here's a big sneak with some of my faves from the morning:

It was great meeting you all. Thank you again for the opportunity. I look forward to sharing the whole album with you soon!

Real Life Letters

So often I get wrapped up with editing photos from sessions that I neglect posting about the other side of my business! I wanted to share some of the Real Life Letters designs I've recently completed for clients. These are GREAT gifts. I love personalized items because they always show the recipient that you were thinking ahead!

This was a baby gift for a client's new nephew. His nursery color scheme was light blue and browns, so the sepia toned letters here worked perfectly. The client also added a frame kit with a soft white mat and nice walnut frame.

Below - This is the most popular design for wedding gifts. They are the only collages I do with additional text besides the "text" created by the photos. These have been a HUGE hit.

I believe "Lovie" was given to a grandma by her grand kids. This is what they call her.

For a little girl...

For another baby's room. This collage was designed to be a bit smaller so that it could easily be framed and displayed on a table top or dresser.

Who do you know that would love their own REAL LIFE LETTERS collage? Contact me and we'll come up with the design that's perfect for them! If you want more info, go to my website and click on the "Real Life Letters" link in the bottom menu.

July's REAL Firecracker

Here's Mr. Personality himself. We had a lot of fun with him on Saturday. And from the looks of these, he had a pretty good time, too! Didn't hurt that his mom brought some yummy stuff for him to "play" with at the end! I loved the watermelon idea instead of a typical, one year smash cake. Just as messy but definitely a little healthier and perfect to celebrate a summer birthday!

Since his parents are good friends of ours, we see this little guy a lot. It has been fun for me to document his life over the past year, too.

He must be thinking, "I can't believe they just gave this whole hunk of watermelon to me! This is the best day EVER!" Note the finished slice in the background!

Hudson

Hudson is one! We did his one year session this past weekend and got soooo many adorable ones! I am still going through them and editing, but I will be posting a quite large sneak peek in the coming day or two of the little fireball. Until then, here is a quick little collage with his photos over the past year.

Miss Hayley

We went for round 2 with Miss Hayley this week since at her initial session, she was a bit scared of the studio lights and was more interested in playing with the toys around the house! Perfectly understandable for the 2 year old that she is. Her trip to visit grandparents in San Diego must've done her some good, because we were able to capture some cute little expressions this time around. Here's a collage to show a few:

HS Senior Models

Earlier this summer, my friend and fellow photographer, Jill, invited me to a photographer get together in McKinney. One of the group organizers found a couple soon-to-be senior girls who were willing to model for us while we bossed them around, posing them and such! :) It was fun to shoot with absolutely no expectations. I got some great stuff that I thought I'd share.

I don't know about everyone else, but I am pretty sure I didn't look like THIS when I was 17...

While I'm on the subject of seniors, if you have a 2010 senior yourself or know someone who does, I'd love the opportunity to add them to my portfolio.

Just a few things...

There are a few changes here on the blog. Thought I'd call them to everyone's attention just in case you might've missed something!

Besides the new "look", some things have moved around a bit! For quick access, I've added the menu bar you see directly underneath the header photos - About Me, Website, and Pricing. I will also post important announcements a the top of the blog - the current one says that my pricing structure will change effective Jan. 1, 2010.

Second, I removed the music. When I accessed my blog from different computers, I noticed it was taking quite some time to load, depending on the connection speed. So, although I liked that feature, I removed it so the blog would load more quickly and the most important part (the photos!) would be visible as soon as possible.

Third, my contact info, blog archive, and general announcements are now at the very bottom of the blog. So, you will have to scroll all the way down to see those. However, you won't be scrolling as much because I have also cut down the number of posts visible on the blog's main page. This will also help the page load faster. If you'd like to view older posts, scroll to the bottom and click on "Older Posts" on the right hand side, or use the monthly archive.

Fourth, please keep in mind that everyone's monitor affects the way you are seeing things on my blog and website. Depending on your settings, colors could look funky, images might not appear sharp, and things might even be out of alignment. There is literally no way to compensate for these variations. The only way to view a photo at its best is by looking at a hard copy, in person. There is just no substitute for the "real thing"!

As always, if you need anything, contact me at photojewels@gmail.com, or at 214.763.5449. Thanks for visiting!

Newbie

Last week I had the opportunity to do another newborn shoot. These sessions are so special, I think, because mom, dad, and baby get to stay at their house while I come to them. We stay flexible around the star of the show, and just work with whatever he/she gives us. This little man really fought us on going to sleep. He didn't want to miss out - at only 9 days old! He finally conked out towards the very end, which enabled us to get some sweet shots.

Why I didn't have this done with my own kids as newborns, I still don't know!?!?

Here's a good little sampling from the session. I'm working on the rest and will email you when finished!
