Coming soon...

Whoo hoo!!!! Just got back from Canton and Sweat Fest 2010 with my mom. Picked up some snazzy new props and stuff to use for upcoming shoots. Probably lost like at least 5 pounds doing it (wink). Definitely worth it.

Come Monday morning I am going to announce my special for August. Gonna benefit those that were feeling the heat more than I was today: all you preggo mamas out there. If you are looking for a way to document your baby both BEFORE and AFTER their birth, this might be the deal for you.

And in case you missed seeing Miss Kinley @ 3 months on my FB account, here she is. What a little sweetie!

Cya Monday!

PS: And just in case you are still wondering, no, Sweat Fest isn't a real event. :)

What does a baby dream of?

Wow, this mom on maternity leave definitely has found her creative outlet during her baby's naptime! Both fun and hilarious. I think I like the paper plate/astronaut set up the best.

A friend sent this to me and it's so fun, and photography-related, so go check it out for a smile:

Own

I'm always soooo behind in getting my own kids photographed around here! So, last week I thew on the basics (white linen shirts, khaki linen pants), let them up on our bed (which they love and aren't usually allowed to do b/c Luke always falls off and gets hurt), and started snapping away!

Oh yeah, and a small reward of Nemo fruit snacks was also in order. Around my house those are big treats!

PS: I am announcing a maternity/newborn combo special soon. Probably on facebook is where it'll appear first. First come, first served. Go over there to "like" my page and help spread the word.

Jameson ~ 4
Luke ~ 20 months

Ohhhh the thrill is GONE!!!!

Fashionistas - UPDATED!

And since a couple people pointed out to me that they wanted to see the images larger without being in a slideshow, here are a few. To view their slideshow, scroll down to the previous post.

Fashionistas

Whoops! I referenced the slide show and somehow along the way deleted it! Here is the link again:

Fashionistas

And a little more on this group.... they are the Rockwall Heath Chapter of the Fashionistas Two. They'll be hosting Fashion Week here in Rockwall August 21-28 with lots of fun, fashion-related events. So far they've got a "Guys Only" fashion show lined up, as well as a show featuring some of the cutest kids around town strutting their stuff! Be on the lookout for their posters around town.

Worth Reading...

I debated a little while on whether or not to post this.

Obviously I decided to, based on the fact that I think it gives a great, somewhat humorous and completely true analogy for some common misconceptions. This was written by a successful lifestyle photog in Malibu. Any woman who has been to get "her hair did" can relate. Get some coffee or a diet coke and enjoy.

Seth, 14 days

Sweet little Seth... and I do mean LITTLE. He might've been my smallest newborn to date, weighing only 5 lbs 7 oz at birth. We waited a little longer to do his session so he could pink up a tad, let the jaundice ease up, and lose the cord.

Here he is right around 6 pounds.

You can use all the props in the world, but I still think there's nothing better than just simple baby and blanket. No distractions, just baby!

Look at these sweet little closeups. He'll never be so teeny again!

And just to put things to scale...

Seth's mommy had ordered this cute cocoon and matching hat from Etsy. What's Etsy? Ooooo, you are so missing out if you haven't visited!!!! But first go HIDE your credit card!!!!

We even caught one of his sleepy little grins....

Sealed with a kiss!

So great to meet your new family and photograph Seth. Thank you for choosing me to document the beginning of his life!

More of EK

And here's more of Miss EK... and her big sis!

Can't decide which is my fave of her alone, and which of them together, but here are some to decide between!

"What'r you lookin' at???"

Up next... yet another newborn baby boy, followed by something ultra fun, different, and new!

Lots to Love!

Sweet little EK stopped by for her 7 month session (we waited until she was able to sit up alone) and we caught lots of cuteness. Here's one to start with:

I posted this on my FB page a couple days, so you might've spied it over there already. I'm also trying to build my facebook "fans" so if you'd like to get Photo Jewels updates that way, click "like" on my Photo Jewels page. I'd be honored for you to spread the luvvvvv! ;)

Knox, 11 days

(More of our little grinner from yesterday... scroll down after reading this post to see him smile.)

What a little gentleman Mr. Knox was. Didn't mess up any of my stuff (a.k.a, everything stayed DRY during our shoot), we took no breaks for feeding, and there was no crying. Unheard of!

Not only that, he had beautiful creamy skin and these pouty, full little lips! Probably a good thing he'll have two big sisters to act as gatekeepers down the road.

I told his mommy I sure hope this session was a preview of his good nature!

Usually I don't shoot much when newborns are awake. That is mainly because they make some very strange faces and generally look better sleeping (plus we can play with them more that way!) But Knox gave us this very pleasant little awake expression that I had to share.

Lots of sweet shots of his mommy holding him. This was the only way she'd agree to be in any of the shots! ;) He seemed ok with that.

Grin

Couldn't help but post this ahead of the full sneak peek (coming tomorrow I think).

How cute is this little guy?!!?

The Coffee Table Storybook Album

Wow! I am so excited to show off a new sample I ordered to keep at the studio. This is a custom-designed 10x10 album and is like nothing else out there. Outstanding quality, vibrant color, unique and artistic. Each album is tailored by me to feature your session images in a totally personal way on 10 pages (20 sides).

As you can see from the photos below, the book pages are stiff and lay flat when opened. This is nice because you don't worry about bending and creasing the pages while looking at it, and you don't lose any of your image in the "crack" of the binding. The custom front and back cover is fine art canvas with a protective lamination.

I've tried to include lots of photos below to show off this fabulous, high-end product that you cannot get just anywhere, but honestly, they don't do the book justice. These are truly such a special way to savor your newborn, child, or family images.

The spine is also customizable:

When you run out of wall space but still want to have a really personal and timeless way to display your new art, THINK ALBUMS! :)

Hudson, 1 week

Meet little Mr. Hudson at just one week old here. What a good sleeper he was! Even though you can't see it a whole lot in these shots, he has a fringe of very dark hair close to his neck. I am predicting near black as it grows in! And his mama looks guhhhh-rate for having had a baby ONE week ago. Wow. Not fair, seriously.

I recently bought this wire basket while in Austin for my girls' weekend with my 2 best college friends. We were at this very eclectic antique store.

They both go, "Are you getting that? It's one of those gym baskets you used like in middle school when you had to dress out."

I was like "Yeah, I'm gonna stick a baby in it."

So funny when they said, "You are going to stick a BABY in THAT!?!"

Yes, yes I am. And so I did.

Those toesies...

So curly and sleepy... snug as a bug.

That's all, folks! More soon! :)
